Rangoli Pattern - Diwali

Yesterday Erin bought in somer coloured powder to make our own Rangoli patterns.  We have been reading about Diwali and learnt that Rangoli patterns are made from bright powder.  They are put at the front door to welcome visitors into the home.  Diwali is the Indian Festival of Light.  Thanks so much for bringing in the powders - we really enjoyed making the pattern and then making our own ones in the class.

Banana Milkshake - Writing Instructions.

Last Thursday we made banana chocolate milkshakes.  We are learning to write instructions and use the special beginnings for each stage.  These beginnings are: First, Next, Then, Finally, Last.  We enjoyed making, drinking and writing about our milkshakes.
I wonder what we will make next week?

Kids Can Cook

Today we had Chris Fortune cooking with us.  Nate from Room 8 got to be his Sous Chef! They made french crepes and filled them with spinach and grated apple.  We all got to taste the crepes at the end.  I wonder if anyone might make crepes at home and fill them with different fillings.  Here is the recipe:
2 Cups Flour
3 eggs (beaten)
milk

Put 2 cups of flour into a bowl.
Beat the 3 eggs in a separate bowl.
Mix the beaten eggs with the flour.
Pour in some milk and whisk until slightly runny.
Leave to stand for 20 minutes.
In a frypan, pour in cups fulls and wait until cooked - flip to the other side.

Fill with yummy fillings.

Yum it is time to eat them!
